The following is a little piece of a chapter out of Gileadis last days types and shadows discussing the nature of these terms in Nephis writings…I consider the Book required reading, however here is another a link to chapter 2 in its entirety.
The Terms Great, Marvelous, and Work
In the end, Nephi’s description of the Lord’s “great and‘ marvelous work” helped me to gain a wealth of understanding. I began to see Nephi’s expression in a new light as I analyzed other examples of these terms throughout the Book of Mormon.
First of all, I found that the words great, marvelous, and work appear both alone and in combinations—such as “great work” and “marvelous work” or in describing something “great and marvelous?’ It soon became clear that these words are not used randomly, nor as hyperbole—as words are, for example, in English when we describe a thing as “wonderful,” whether it really is or not. On the contrary, Book of Mormon prophet-writers use the terms great, marvelous, and work definitively and with purposeful intent. Other Book of Mormon passages containing those terms, I discovered, reveal much of what Nephi means when he predicts the great and marvelous work in 1 Nephi 14:7.
Because Book of Mormon prophets saw our day, and because they wrote for us, they included in their writings what would be of most worth for us to know. Coming from a meticulous ancient scribal tradition, writing with difficulty on metal plates, they made every word say what they wanted it to. According to their typological mindset, so characteristic of all the holy prophets, “what has been shall be” constituted a manner of prophesying (compare Eccl. 1:9; 3 Nephi 23:3). What was past, they invariably used as a type of the future; and what was future they described in terms of the past. Such an approach to prophecy placed them under constraint to use language consistently. That consistency with words gave the reader a proper sense of what the future might hold. It linked the past and the future in one continuum.
In many instances, for example, Book of Mormon prophets speak of great and marvelous works of the Lord—using those terms. The past works they so describe, by their very nature and by design of the prophets who recounted them, provide a frame of reference for any future work they describe as great and marvelous. Thus, a key to the great and marvelous work of the last days—its nature and timing—is given in the Book of Mormon in the very way its authors use those words. By analyzing the terms great, marvelous, and work in the Book of Mormon, therefore, we can piece together a comprehensive picture of what that event is all about.
First of all, Nephi himself employs these terms often. To him, whether a great and marvelous work of the Lord occurs in the past or in the future, certain characteristics identify it as such and thus merit that description. By examining past great and marvelous works that Nephi describes, then, we gain a clearer idea of the work that he predicts for the future.
Other Book of Mormon prophet-writers, such as Mormon and Moroni, too, were careful to use descriptive language consistently. Like Nephi’s, their writings furnish the reader with a pattern of great and marvelous works of the Lord. The Lord’s destruction of the wicked in a day of judgment, for example, and the simultaneous deliverance and restoration of the righteous, comprise two prominent events throughout the Book of Mormon that are a part of “a great and a marvelous work.”
Additional insights into the Lord’s great and marvelous work come from the Doctrine and Covenants. In that book, a prophet-writer, Joseph Smith, also uses these terms definitively and consistently. This further helps establish what the scriptures mean by the Lord’s great and marvelous work. It soon becomes apparent, for example, that this “work” is a great culminating work of the last days, that it comes as a climax and finale to the gospel’s restoration. The great and marvelous work includes the restoration of the gospel but also much that is yet to come. Specifically, when the scriptures speak of the restoration of the gospel, they define it as the “beginning,” the “commencement;’ or the “foundation” of the Lord’s work (see 3 Nephi 21:7; Morm 3:17, 21; D&C 64:33). The restoration of the gospel thus “commences” the prophesied great and marvelous work, though the work’s larger fulfillment may yet be future.
By means of such rhetorical analysis, I found that the Book of Mormon locates the main scenario of the great and marvelous work in the last days, sometime after the gospel’s restoration. But before detailing that analysis, let us look at the structural evidence. Let’s examine the way in which Nephi organizes his material.
A Great and marvelous work is the culmination of a great celestial clockwork that began thousands of years ago. The results of this great clockwork are the change in the phyisology of the righteous and the burning as stuble of the wicked.the next benchmark of this progression is july 11th of this year, Rosh Kadesh in the month of ave a total solar eclipse. This progression is this, a pulsar that is streaming from the galactic center is increaseing in magnitude and frequencey it resonates with the righteous and is now bringing forth their quickening. the righteous have noticed a (deseret)buzzing feeling a high pitched noise in the head and a feeling of well being, more advanced symtoms are the witnessing the diamond like flashes in the perefry of the vision seeing blue orbs while hearing or thinking of higher principles. You will notice that you heal quicker your mental faculties are keener your days seem to go faster because time is speeding up and soon will not exist. There is much more to this, this is enough for now.

Love this part: “The restoration of the gospel thus “commences” the prophesied great and marvelous work, though the work’s larger fulfillment may yet be future.”
This July should indeed be interesting – with predictive linguistics suggesting a number of large (causing Haiti like damage, or worse, and leading to a diaspora of sorts) earthquakes will start shaking post July 7th through the end of the year.
Brand, you state that July 11th is a mere benchmark, implying that there’s something on the other side of that benchmark. would love to hear more.
The next bench mark and the last of this year is the winter solstice which coincides with a total lunar eclipse, the school of the magi was to chart the the great universal clock work that God wound up in the begining. It also corresponds to the ebb and flow of universal rythms pouring from the galactic center. God discovered laws that allowed him to become God. More latter.
The solar eclipses (total) that fell on specific dates were ment for the gentiles and in this case at least the righteous gentiles, of which we are still associated. Though this relation and or designation is soon to change to the blessings of Ephraim, the times of the gentiles are past. July 11th of this year will be the third year in a row that it has fallen on rosh chodesh menachem ave, and it is bracked by two lunar eclipses. To say this is an extremely rare event is an understatement! The jewish name for this is rosh chodesh menachem ave, rosh chodesh is the name of the 1st day of every month nad means “new begining”, menachem ave means “comforter” and “father” the proper interpretation, because it is the third in a row is this ” in the mouth of two or thre witnesses shall every word be established, the father shall now comfort you with the comforter and anew begining. this time will have great significance for the very righteous. All of your great personal sacrifices shall now begin to be rewarded “a man shall be more precious than fine gold”. ” the kingdom cometh not by observation but is within you” you shall resonate with the deseret from the galactic center ascending to higher levels of conciousness sanctified by the spirit unto the renewing of your bodies. The blessings of ephraim shall be realized.
“The kingdom cometh not by observation but is within you” the prophet joseph gave us the fullness that it might resonate with in us, this testimony shall cleave to the pulsar from the galactic center, this pulsar is comeing from the throne of god. I thought I would share a most amazeing story with any one cares to read. In the summer of 2005 my best friends oldest son was killed in Kerkuk Iraq, his name is sfc ronnie wood. Any one living in the state of utah would probably remember this. his funeral was held at the high school in cedar city, many dignitaries spoke on his behalf including the governor of utah. I knew ronnie of course as an infant and through most of his life, i knew him as a fine man, a good man. In what ever ronnie did he was succesful. his parents were devastated by his loss particularly his father ron wood senior. Ron wood senior and i grew up together here in las vegas we were in many ways inseperable. the winter after the death of ronnie i was working for a heating and a/c company. and one day i had a boat load of heating repair jobs to do and was very much pressed for time. i had just finshed a repair job and decided to get some lunch i placed my metal invoice folder on the partition along side of me that divides the two seats of the service van after getting my carls junior combo from the drive in window i placed the bag on top of the metal folder and decided to find a place to park and eat. after finishing eating i wadded up the sack to dispose of it, however the instant i took the sack off the folder i saw what had been under the sack and on top of the folder a brand new blue cowboy neckerchef still with the original factory folds. My first thought was what the hell!! where did that come from!! as i sat there stareing at it my brain was trying to comprehend what had just happened. i hope you can appreciate what i was trying to digest, my thoughts were raceing, did i just accidently pick that up, was it always here and in three months i just never noticed it, with each thought i had to say to myself no no. now i know that this doesn’t seem to be a big thing on the surface but if some thing like this has ever happened to you, you would see why i was perplexed. In fact for a moment there i was down right questioning my sanity! i asked my self what could this possibly mean and with that thought my good friend ron wood popped into my mind. Ron wood is a cowboy through and through at the time he was the caretaker of a ranch in colorado and in his evenings he was a country western performer with a popular local band. all his life he liked the western cowboy theme. now it as very difficult to contact ron because of his tight schedule and the fact that the only phone was a land line at the ranch house. I took a chance that he might be available and gave him a call, to my surprise he picked up i then asked him what does a blue cowboy neckerchef mean to him he replied im putting one on right now and it is my favorite! now this in its self was a sign to me but i guess not too much to ron i suppose because of his grieving. well that was the end of that conversation i told him i would call him again in the evening. I did not have alot of time to think about it because i had a cold family that needed heat fast, however it was hard to shake from my mind what just happened! I was running late so i decided to call my next appointment and let them know, each time i called on my cell phone the automated voice message informed that i had dialed a bad number i dialed the same number three times and each time i got the same results this has never happened to me before or since. So i just went over apologized for my tartiness and did the repair. After my last service call my thoughts returned to the cowboy neckerchef and what in the world it could possibly mean, now let me say here that this sort of thing was never on my radar, to me it smacked of new age stuff and did not fit into my belief system! I called ron again as soon as i got home this time his wife jody picked up as ron was out, i reiterated my reason for calling and asked for her thoughts. She told me that there had been a blue cowboy neckerchef thumb tacked to ronnie’s bedroom wall with all the rest of his stuff, i then decided to take a closer look at the one in my hand and to my amazement there was a thumb tack hole in one corner! I told jody what i was looking at, there was not much of a response more of a questioning than anything. We talked a bit more and hung up. by this time my mind is raceing in all directions, and yet it seemed that every one else was not impressed. For what ever reason i decided to take another look at my cell phone probably because that also was the center of a unusual event. the screen had three sets of numbers that showed the results of my attempted calls, the numbers were not even close to the phone numbers i had attempted to call that day and time. This just added to my confusion i had been useing cell phones almost from the time when they first became available to the public and i know how to dial a number! then i decided to call jody back and ask if the numbers ment anything to her. I should have known had i thought about it more that one of the numbers was ron’s b-date, but in my excitement and bewilderment i was not thinking or not thinking straight. When jody picked up i asked her if 222, 722 or 72209 ment anything to her, she answered that 222 the three duce’s was ronnies national guard number and that 7-22 was his dads birth date, but the last number ment nothing to her, by now i am absolutely beside myself and have no clue what it all means! Several years go by without me given the events of that day much thought and in fact alot of the details had gotten fuzzy but not entirely forgotten. then i bought a series of dvd’s from a messianic jewish christian pastor on the “feasts of the lord” these are old testament rituals that deals with jesus’s first comeing (pass over) and his second comeing (yom kippur) the last of these dvd’s deals with solar and lunar eclipses and if they fall on certain dates that they have prophetic significance and symbolic meaning. One day i realized that the last of the three numbers may in fact be a date and may have some other significance! So with a little bit of effort on the internet i found several web sites that i have saved and helped me with this search. I have a jewish date converter, a site that explains the signicance of jewish dates, and a nasa website that will show all dates and other info. on solar and lunar eclipses. What I found one day in my search, and this would have ben in the spring of 2008 that 7-22-09 was the first day of the month of Ave on the jewish calendar called Rosh Chodesh menachem ave, I also found that there is a total solar eclipse on this date. one of the interpitations of this date is “comfort my father” and is associated with the formally accepted jewish grieving process, as soon as i heard the jewish rabbis discourse on the grieveing process of a loved one i began to weep i then knew that i had received a message from the other side of the vail and i also knew that i had not been able to comfort my good friend ron. Since that time this date i have discovered has lead me to other fascinating discoveries, i will give you one example, 2008, 2009, and 2010 three years in a row there is a total solar eclipse on the very same day of rosh chodesh menachem ave and on dec21st of 2010 there is a total lunar eclipse. as another point of interest there has been a recent discovery of illustrations contributed to Nostradamus that show among other things a medalion with three solar eclipse followed by a lunar eclipse, this medallion is believed to be part of a prophetic time table. Hi Dan, times and dates are of interest there is greater interest in the events of those times it appears that the three mentioned dates with their solar eclipses are the last throws of a gentile dominated religious system this is based in the fact that the accepted Jewish understanding of solar eclipses deal with the gentiles, And the order/elipses of 2011 and 2012 . Historically the month of ave is the worst month for tribes of Judah,”not the tribes of Israel” the gentiles and the perverted gentile systems of religion , government, commerce should prevail in these three years which so far has been born out and quite obvious. it is now however reached the critical mass of its corruption and will self destruct, At the same time however the Israelite portion of tha gentile system shall begin to seperate themselves and start their ascenion process. dec 21st 2010 is a total lunar clipse that deals with the house of israel, it falls upon the winter solstice also known as the mundane cross of time. This indicates the beginning of a major change in the world scene. The best that I can figure is the blood of Joseph will begin its rise to dominance. 2011 is the quite before the storm a time for the righteous to get their “house in order” I believe that alot of the saints will see through the corruption of their leaders at this time and look for a righteous change. The year 2012 the tetrads(2 solar & 2lunar ecilipses) will begin to fall upon the days of Yom kippur in the month of tishri this will be the time when all things shall be in commotion. the alignment of the galactic plane with the solar plane, the end of the processon of planets aligning with the constellation ophucus ( serpent holder, light bearer, one who saves etc.) The earth will be exposed to the full effects of deseret, the photon belt, galactic pulsar and the solar flares. the earth shall at this time burn as a oven and melt with fervent heat . The key to the ascension process is the kingdom within you if you have the fullness of truth within you your transition shall be so much the easier as isaiah said they shall be in travail they shall be amazed at one another their faces shall be as flames.
